Holiday Nippers (previously Surf Survival)

Course Detail:

The Holiday Nippers (previously called Surf Survival) program is an exciting six day school holiday program designed to increase children’s confidence at the beach, and introduce them to Surf Life Saving’s Nippers program.

The Holiday Nippers program allows participants aged 7 to 13 years to experience what the Nipper’s program has to offer, preparing them to become a member of their local Surf Life Saving Club where they can participate in a range of lifesaving and sport opportunities.

Our qualified lifesavers will share their extensive beach knowledge and teach participants an array of skills in a fun and social environment. Participants will learn to read the oceans conditions and use a range of surf life saving equipment including rescue tubes and Nipper boards.

Adapted from Surf Life Saving WA’s Nipper Program, Holiday Nippers offers participants three skill based levels of learning;

  1. Surf Aware
  2. Surf Safe
  3. Surf Smart

Parents are asked to select their child’s level based on their demonstrable competencies and previous experiences in aquatic programs.  Participants must demonstrate the required skills in the first class to confirm their level.  All classes are conducted by qualified surf lifesavers.
