Congratulations to our West Australian athletes who ventured to the Gold Coast to compete in the Coates Hire Coolangatta Gold 2016 over the weekend.
A challenging test of endurance, the short course covers a 14.6km ski, 9.2km run, 2.5km swim and 6.1km board, while the long course involves a 23km ski, 9.2km run, 3.5km swim and 6.1km board.
Tackling the long course on Sunday, City of Perth’s Jeremy Doney finished 11th overall with a time of 4:18:09 while Mullaloo’s Ben Jones came in just over 10 minutes later in 16th place (4:28:13).

Representing the women, Amanda Bowman from Sorrento made WA proud with her second place in the 30-39 Females category in a time of 6:00:31.
The top male athlete for the event was Ali Day (Surfers Paradise), who was able to win his fourth Long Course title in a time of 3:54:29 which leaves him only one title-win behind Gold Coast ironman Caine Eckstein (BMD Northcliffe).
Courtney Hancock (BMD Northcliffe) took out the Women’s Long course in 4:29:07, 2 minutes and 46 seconds ahead of her closest rival.
